Golden Guitar winners tally
Since the Golden Guitar Awards began in 1973, hundreds of trophies have been awarded to artists, writers and industry people.
This tally has previously attempted to be a count of the total number of Golden Guitar trophies awarded but over the years, it has been difficult tracking the actual number of trophies given out as different organisations and individuals have been involved in determining what is presented to whom.
With that in mind, this tally is a listing of Golden Guitars presented for actual awards rather than tracking the number of trophies given to and held by individuals. In many cases, the two numbers will correlate but confusion does arise, for example, when considering awards won by duos, groups and vocal collaborations.
To illustrate how this tally is determined, take the example of a Group/Duo award where the group is made up of three individuals. Currently, each individual mayreceives a Golden Guitar but the award is to the "ABC" group, not to the individuals. In this case, the award tally would recognise the award to "ABC" but not to the individuals.
That would not preclude anyone noting that if, say, a prolific award winner has won three Golden Guitars in their own right and two as part of an official duo or trio act, them being referenced as having five Golden Guitars to their credit.
It should be noted that in the case of the Vocal Collaboration award, each artist remains an individual act in their own right so if Artist A and Artist B win, they win in their own right as it is a collaboration between two acts and not a duo.
The following is tally is up to and including the 2021 Awards.
* The tallies for Kasey Chambers and Shane Nicholson are good examples of how thos tally is listed. As a solo act, Kasey has 15 Golden Guitars. As a duo, Kasey & Shane have six Golden Guitars. As a solo act or producer, Shane has five. Kasey then features in three group or songwriting team awards and Shane in two songwriting team awards.
